De’Longhi: From bean to cup

7min leitura

How De’Longhi turns coffee into a moment tailored to each person’s taste

Coffee is no longer just that first drink of the day that helps us wake up. For many consumers, it has become a ritual, a pause, a moment of pleasure and, above all, an experience that can be personalised according to taste, mood or simply the occasion. From an intense espresso to a creamy cappuccino, as well as cold drinks and Cold Brew, the diversity of possibilities has also changed the way people think about coffee at home.

It is in this context that De’Longhi has been developing an approach based on a simple idea: the perfect coffee is the one that suits each person’s taste. A philosophy summarised in the Perfetto concept, which now takes on a new expression through the brand’s latest global campaign, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Spike Jonze.

The Brad Pitt effect

“Some things shouldn’t be complicated. Coffee is one of them.” This is the premise behind De’Longhi’s latest global campaign, developed by LOLA Madrid, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Spike Jonze. The film begins with an everyday yet amusing situation: Brad Pitt simply wants a few minutes of peace to enjoy his coffee, but finds himself surrounded by his 14 “housemates” — his dogs — each with their own personality and opinion.

The campaign transforms an apparently ordinary situation — preparing a cup of coffee — into a small personal achievement, reinforcing the idea that the Perfetto moment is the one each person can adapt to their own taste and the moment they are experiencing. The message extends the philosophy De’Longhi has associated with the Perfetto concept: “Your coffee. Your way. Always Perfetto.” More than a drink, coffee is seen as a personal ritual, shaped by taste, mood and what really matters.

If no two consumers are alike, then for De’Longhi there is also no single way to experience the coffee ritual, and it is within this diversity that the brand’s current range is positioned: Rivelia Start, Rivelia, Eletta Ultra and LS Touch.

Rivelia range: more variety, same DNA

At the heart of De’Longhi’s proposition is the Rivelia range, developed for those who see coffee as a world of constant discovery and experimentation. The key differentiating feature of this family is the Bean Switch System, a system of interchangeable bean containers that allows users to switch easily between different varieties of coffee beans — whether a more intense blend for the morning, a decaffeinated option at the end of the day or a new origin to try at any time.

Based on this core concept, the range is divided into two approaches designed for different user profiles: Rivelia and Rivelia Start.

Rivelia: a complete experience

For consumers looking for maximum variety combined with intuitive digital control, Rivelia has a compact design, is available in five colours and features a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen.

In addition to the Bean Switch System, Rivelia features Bean Adapt Technology, which automatically adjusts grinding and extraction according to the selected type of bean, and offers 16 recipes at the touch of a button. It is the ideal solution for those who value the convenience of an interactive screen and maximum personalisation of every cup.

Rivelia Start: innovative and intuitive

Sharing exactly the same pillars of innovation as the rest of the range — freshly ground beans and the flexibility of the Bean Switch System — Rivelia Start is a simplified version for those who want to explore the variety of a coffee shop at home without complications.

To provide a more direct and accessible experience, Rivelia Start replaces the touchscreen with an intuitive panel featuring buttons and indicator lights, while dispensing with the automated Bean Adapt system to focus on the essentials. It offers 10 hot and cold drinks, including Cold Brew in under five minutes, three extraction methods — Espresso, Filter and Cold Extraction — and the automatic LatteCrema Hot system. All in a compact format with tone-on-tone finishes in three colours: Jade Green, Onyx Black and Arctic White.

Eletta Ultra: the quiet one

At the other end of the spectrum, Eletta Ultra offers a highly personalised experience, capable of adapting to different tastes and moments throughout the day. With more than 50 hot and cold drinks, it incorporates the LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool systems and can prepare everything from an espresso to a cappuccino or a Cold Brew, the latter in under five minutes.

Bean Adapt technology also makes it possible to set and save the appropriate parameters for each type of bean, including intensity, temperature and grind level, while the machine can manage up to six different bean profiles. The aim is to allow different preferences to coexist within the same household without having to compromise on personalisation.

The experience is also defined by its low noise level. Silent Technology allows the machine to operate up to 65% more quietly than previous models. Designed for those mornings when all you need is simplicity, navigation on the 4.3-inch screen is so fluid and intuitive that your perfect coffee is just one touch away — without complex menus or distractions.

And then there is the design. The curved front panel, brushed metal finishes and LatteCrema LED ring, which changes colour depending on whether the drink is hot or cold, aim to make the machine more than just another household appliance, turning it into an essential part of the morning ritual.

La Specialista Touch: for baristas

For some consumers, preparing coffee is a genuine pleasure. The sound of beans being ground, the aroma spreading through the kitchen, preparing the extraction and creating the right milk texture are all as important as the final result.

La Specialista Touch was designed for this profile: a manual machine with an integrated grinder that combines the ritual of preparation with advanced technology, making each stage more intuitive. The aim is to allow anyone to take on the role of barista at home without giving up control over the process. The journey is guided and simplified by a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a five-step process. The integrated grinder offers 15 grind settings, while technologies such as Bean Adapt optimise grinding, dosing and temperature for each type of bean. Active Temperature Control ensures stability during extraction, while the Advanced Thermoblock allows the machine to heat up in just 20 seconds.

But the experience does not end with espresso. Cold Extraction technology allows users to prepare a Cold Brew in five minutes, while the Auto LatteArt steam wand prepares milk foam, including plant-based alternatives, with four temperature settings and five texture levels. The nine pre-set classic recipes can also be personalised. The result is a machine that seeks to balance the pleasure of the manual ritual with the convenience of technology. A proposition that received two international design awards in 2025: the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award.

From bean to cup, every moment counts

From manual preparation to automation, from searching for the perfect bean to wanting to try different drinks, the evolution of coffee machines reflects a broader change: consumers increasingly want products to adapt to their routines, rather than the other way around.

It is precisely within this space that De’Longhi positions the Perfetto concept. Technology is no longer simply a means of preparing a drink, but becomes a true facilitator of the experience for every type of coffee lover: those who want to master every step, and those who prefer to press a button and let the machine do the rest.

Ultimately, the truth is that there is no single right way to drink coffee. There is each person’s coffee, at each person’s moment. And it is in the possibility of choosing the bean, intensity, temperature, recipe, texture, hot or cold, manual or automatic, that De’Longhi seeks to find its own meaning for a “Perfetto” moment.
